Milford FC moved to the summit of the Motsepe Foundation Championship table after defeating Black Leopards 2-1 at Umhlathuze Sports Complex on Friday, while Cape Town City FC claimed back-to-back wins.
The KZN-based outfit is sitting at the top of the log standings after collecting 19 points in eight league matches played. Milford have won six games, drawn one, and lost once. Milford are two points ahead of second-placed Casric Stars, who collected 17 points in the same number of matches.
On Friday, Casric suffered a shock 1-0 defeat against Highbury FC to stumble in the early chase for the automatic promotion to the Betway Premiership.
Elsewhere, Cape Town City FC claimed a 2-1 victory over The Bees on Saturday, making it two wins in a row in the Motsepe Foundation. The Citizens had a rocky start to life in the second division after being relegated from the Betway Premiership at the end of the previous season.
Cape Town City are now 11th in the league table with nine points, having won two, drawn three, and lost three of their eight matches.

Meanwhile, Musa Nyatama first collected maximum points with Upington City FC after beating AmaTuks 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Tuks Stadium. The former Orlando Pirates midfielder took over the coaching job at Upington a few days ago, replacing Abram Mongoya.
