Government authorities in Limpopo have shut down the rehab centre that recently admitted two former PSL stars, Lerato Chabangu and Kgaogelo Sekgota.

The two ex-Bafana Bafana players spent a month at the Hope of Achievers Rehabilitation Centre, outside Polokwane, Limpopo, after battling with alcohol abuse.

Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Chabangu was the first to be admitted into the centre earlier in the year. Sekgota joined after the 2025/26 season.

While Chabangu has expressed interest in pursuing a career in coaching, former Kaizer Chiefs winger Sekgota has joined Limpopo ABC Motsepe League side Tubatse United in an attempt to revive his career.

However, the rehab centre has been in the news for the wrong reasons in recent times.

According to the police in Limpopo, a 38-year-old owner of the rehabilitation centre was recently arrested for the murder of a 22-year-old male patient.

WHY THE REHAB CENTRE THAT ADMITTED FOOTBALL PERSONALITIES WAS SHUT DOWN

It is said that five victims from the Rehabilitation Centre escaped from the establishment. When the security officer allegedly traced the victims and brought them back to the centre, they were allegedly assaulted with objects; as a result, they sustained serious injuries.

Unfortunately, one of the victims succumbed to the injuries on the scene. The survivors were transported to the hospital for treatment.
