Ex-Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo has joined Eswatini club Mbabane Highlanders AM as the latest addition to their technical team.
The former Bafana Bafana international joins the club owned by South African businesswoman Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize, who is keen on strengthening her team.
Khuzwayo, a decorated former goalkeeper, rose to prominence at Chiefs between 2012 and 2018. However, after largely playing second fiddle to Itumeleng Khune, he sought a fresh challenge by making a cross-town switch to Pirates.
He joined Pirates in July 2018, but things did not go as planned: his playing career in the PSL was cut short at 29 due to injury, forcing him into retirement. At 35, Khuzwayo is now poised to carve another niche for himself, albeit in Eswatini.
MBABANE HIGHLANDERS AM CONFIRMS KHUZWAYO’S APPOINTMENT

Mbabane Highlanders AM confirmed his appointment to their technical team on Sunday night, stating that his experience will help bolster their project.
“Mbabane Highlanders AM Football Club is pleased to confirm the appointment of Brilliant Khuzwayo to the Club’s technical team, with immediate effect,” reads the club statement.
“A former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, Khuzwayo, joins The Black Bull with vast top-flight experience from the South African Premier Soccer League, coupled with international exposure through Bafana Bafana.”
However, the club did not specify the role Khuzwayo will take over in the Mbabane Highlanders AM setup. However, a move into goalkeeper coaching is widely expected given his professional pedigree between the sticks.
“His professionalism, technical insight, and contemporary approach to the game are expected to play a key role in driving performance and player development across the Club,” added Highlanders AM.
“The appointment reflects Mbabane Highlanders AM’s continued focus on strengthening its technical structures and embedding high-performance standards that support the Club’s long-term ambitions, both on and off the pitch.
“Mbabane Highlanders AM extends a warm welcome to Brilliant Khuzwayo and wishes him every success as he begins this new chapter with The Black Bull family.”
