Abram Nteo mum of John Maduka’s situation at Magesi

Magesi FC assistant coach Abram Nteo has taken a cautious approach in addressing the whereabouts of the club’s head coach, John Maduka.

Maduka was a notable absentee from Magesi’s 2-0 defeat against Orlando Pirates in the Betway Premiership at a sold-out Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday night.

With the defeat, the Limpopo-based side is continuing its dismal run of form, which has seen them in the mix of teams that could be relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship at the end of the season.

Magesi have only registered two wins, five draws, and eight defeats in 15 matches played. They are sitting at the bottom of the league table with 11 points. Dikwena tsa Meetse have struggled for a consistent winning run under the guidance of Maduka, who took over the coaching job at the start of the 2025/26 season.

As a result, the former Bloemfontein Celtic mentor is seemingly facing an uncertain future at the club after sitting in the stands in the match against Pirates.

ABRAM NTEO LEAVES MADUKA’S SITUATION TO MAGESI’S MANAGEMENT

Speaking after the disappointing results against the Buccaneers, Nteo said he would rather leave Maduka’s situation to the club management.

“Out of respect, I will ask that you ask me the question about the game and about the coach; the management will talk about that,” Nteo said.

Nteo further spoke out on whether the absence of the head coach has had a psychological impact on the players as they fight to move out of the relegation zone. “I don’t think that is affecting the players because remember, as players you have a contract with Magesi and you are a Magesi player.

“So you need to perform when you have a chance to play. I don’t think whatever is happening is affecting the performance; maybe it was just not our day, but it has nothing to do with the situation of the coach.”
