Businessman gifts R4 million brand-new vehicle to ZIFA boss

Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo has gifted ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi a brand-new R4 million vehicle, praising him for steering the association towards good governance.

Magwizi and his executive committee concluded their first year in office on 25 January, a year marked by its highs and lows. That includes a disappointing 2025 AFCON campaign where The Warriors again failed to go beyond the group phase.

However, the popular businessman, Chivayo, who has strong links with the country’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa, believes Magwizi has restored order at ZIFA and deserves recognition. Over the last year, Chivayo has gifted several football figures with different vehicles, among them former Mamelodi Sundowns ace Peter Ndlovu, Moses Chunga, and Sunday Chidzambwa.

On Sunday, Chivhayo unveiled a 75-seater Higer bus worth R4.5 million [USD285,000] which he gifted to Highlanders FC. And on Monday, he gifted ZIFA boss Magwizi a brand-new 2026 Range Rover Sport, D350 Autobiography Limited Edition worth R4 million. Chivayo said Magwizi has restored Zimbabwe’s football governing body to a structured and transparent organisation.

“Under his leadership, we have already witnessed the successful reconstitution of the ZIFA secretariat. The reactivation of critical governance systems. And the professional realignment of all key operational units within the Association,” Chivayo posted on Facebook.

“For the first time in many years, Zimbabweโ€™s football mother body is functioning under an organized and transparent administrative structure. That alone is a game-changer, thanks to President Magwiziโ€™s swift action to restore football integrity, which must be commended.”

CHIVAYO PRAISES THE ZIFA PRESIDENT, MAGWIZI

Chivayo gave Magwizi a pat on the back for ensuring The Warriors have a drama-free 2025 AFCON campaign.

“Even in the face of Zimbabweโ€™s short-lived AFCON appearance. ZIFA ensured that the Warriors are fully funded and adequately catered for throughout their campaign. Despite the early exit, the Warriors played wholeheartedly and there were no complaints about their welfare or conditions. This is a rare occurrence in our footballing history.

“This silent achievement is a testament to a new culture of football governance that is results-oriented and player-centered. In appreciation of your excellent service, I am pleased to say a big congratulations to you, President Magwizi.

“Please go and see Victor at Exquisite Car Dealership and collect your brand-new 2026 Range Rover Sport, D350 Autobiography Limited Edition. USD 250,000 has been paid in full, and your beautiful car is ready for collection,” he added.

This is the second time Chivayo has gifted Magwizi with a brand-new car. In January 2025, Magwizi received a Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series following his win in the ZIFA elections. The vehicle is valued at approximately R3.2 million [USD200,000].
