Struggling Betway Premiership side Magesi FC have clarified their position on the future of head coach John Maduka as they fight to avoid the looming axe.
Maduka has been noticeably absent from the dugout for the team’s last two fixtures against Orlando Pirates and Upington City FC.
His tenure remains shrouded in uncertainty amid intensifying reports that the Limpopo-based outfit is actively searching for a replacement. In the interim, former South African junior international Abram Nteo has taken temporary charge of the squad.
The club’s update follows a report by FARPost that the hierarchy and Maduka have tentatively agreed to part ways. A formal meeting is scheduled for Monday to finalise the details of his contract payout.
Magesi chairman Solly Makhubela confirmed to this publication that a definitive decision is imminent. “We have not yet reached a resolution regarding Maduka. I believe the parties are going to sit on Monday to finalise the matter.”
WHAT IS THE LATEST REGARDING COACH JOHN MADUKA?
Speaking ahead of the Betway Premiership clash against Golden Arrows at the Seshego Stadium on Friday, the club’s Public Relations Officer, Abel Rakoma, revealed that Maduka has now been placed on recess.
“The situation with John Maduka is that the club has decided to place him on a recess,” Rakoma told Journalists.

“Primarily because his performance contract is being assessed. You will realise that where we are sitting at the club, we are at the bottom of the log. He started the season with us, and we are now midway through the season.
“So it’s always important that we be able to access his performances. The club has decided that we may not be able to access his performances with our undivided attention,” he added.
MAGESI FC CURRENTLY MAKING AN ASSESSMENT OF THE FUTURE OF THE HEAD COACH
“So the decision is that let’s actually place him on recess so that we can be able to access his performances properly. That is the situation with coach Maduka.
“We were supposed to be at position 10 and not below that. In terms of how we actually decided and agreed. So we are at the tail end of the league, and that is not appealing to us as a club.
“I think before the end of the week or so we shall have actually decided and evaluation of his performances.”
