Baroka FC and Black Leopards are running out of time in their relegation battle after suffering defeats in their respective matches in the Motsepe Foundation Championship on Tuesday.
Bakgakga suffered a 2-1 defeat to Midlands Wanderers FC, worsening their chances of escaping the relegation zone as the season reaches the business end.
The Khurishi Mphahlele-owned team is rooted at the bottom of the NFD league table after collecting 18 points in 23 matches. Baroka have only managed to accumulate three points on four occasions, drew six matches, and suffered defeats in 13 matches.
On the other hand, Cape Town City FC moved to the summit of the log standings after beating Black Leopards 1-0 at Athlone Stadium on Tuesday. The Citizens gained an advantage at the top with a better goal difference after moving to 40 points, the same as Milford FC, Hungry Lions FC, and Kruger United, who are forming the top four.
The Citizens are in a fierce race to gain automatic promotion to the Betway Premiership, having dropped to the second tier at the end of last season.
BAROKA AND BLACK LEOPARDS AT RISK OF GOING DOWN TO THE AMETUER LEAGUE

Elsewhere, another Limpopo-based side, Black Leopards, is also facing the axe from the ABC Motsepe League after a dismal run of form that saw them win only three matches, draw nine times, and lose 11 times. They are on 18 points in 23 games.
Leopards and Baroka will be looking to use the remaining seven matches in the Motsepe Foundation to grind out positive results and retain their statuses. The two teams have participated in SAโs top flight before being relegated to the second tier a few seasons ago.
