Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef has commended the players’ mentality following a fifth straight win in the Betway Premiership in Polokwane.
Amakhosi secured a convincing 4-1 win against relegation-threatened Magesi FC at New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The win sees the Soweto giants reduce the point difference against rivals Orlando Pirates, who are currently second, to 10. They are now also six points above AmaZulu FC, who are in fourth position and also in contention for a place in the CAF Confederation Cup.
With 45 points already secured this season, the club has shown a massive improvement over the 32-point total they managed in the entirety of the last campaign. This current five-game winning streak follows a challenging slump where Amakhosi suffered four successive defeats.
KAIZER CHIEFS COACH LAUDS THE PLAYERS’ MENTALITY AFTER CONVINCING WIN

Speaking after the win against Magesi, Ben Youssef said the players now have a different mentality.
“It’s the mentality that we have, and we have a lot of meetings together to discuss the situation,” he said. “We properly analyse the situation and rectify the mistakes. So when you make the right analysis that you see from your mistakes, and you continue like that, that’s the most important thing for us.
“We discussed a lot about the mentality that we have to prepare mentally for this game because it will be difficult. But I am so proud of the mentality that we showed and the spirit on the pitch.”
KHALIL BEN YOUSSEF SATISFIED WITH SQUAD DEPTH AHEAD OF POLOKWANE CLASH
“As I said from the beginning, we are a big squad, and we are not a team that depends on one or two players, and when any player is ready, he will fight.”
Chiefs will remain in Limpopo ahead of their league clash against Polokwane City FC at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
