TS Galaxy boss Tim Sukazi has addressed the departure of mentor Adnan Beganovic and his technical adviser, Nermin Basic, as the Rockets navigate a coaching transition less than ten days before their 2 May Nedbank Cup final showdown.

The Mpumalanga-based outfit officially confirmed the exit of the duo on Thursday, 23 April, following a dismal run of form in the Betway Premiership. This comes after FARPost reported that Beganovic had left the club by mutual agreement following a meeting on Tuesday.

The club cited a “string of unfortunate results” as the main reason for the technical team shake-up. The Rockets have found life difficult on the pitch recently, failing to secure a single victory in their last 10 league outings.

However, this publication revealed that Beganovicโ€™s departure from Galaxy followed a frank discussion regarding the club’s recent struggles. The coach reportedly pointed to the January 2026 departures of Khulumani Ndamane and Puso Dithejane as the turning point, having previously cautioned that their sales would leave the squad “thin and exposed.

Statistics back his concerns, with the Rockets conceding 21 goals in the 2026 calendar year following the pair’s exit. Despite the differing views on the squad’s depth, Beganovic and chairman Tim Sukazi reached an amicable termination agreement on Tuesday, which includes a structured payout for the remainder of his contract.

As it stands, TS Galaxy occupy 12th position on the log standings, having accumulated 25 points from 25 matches.

BERNARD PARKER TAKES OVER COACHING REINS AT TS GALAXY ON AN INTERIM BASIS

In a move to ensure continuity, Galaxy on Thursday announced that former Kaizer Chiefs forward Bernard Parker will take over coaching duties in an interim capacity.ย Parker joined the TS Galaxy coaching staff in 2024, initially leading the Rockets’ DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] side.

His transition to the senior team followed last season, stepping up after the club parted ways with Vuyo Mere, a former member of Beganovicโ€™s technical team.

STATEMENT FROM TS GALAXY CHAIRMAN TIM SUKAZI

Sukazi stated that the decision to release two of his technical team members was difficult but necessary. He acknowledged that both Beganovic and Basic made a “huge contribution” to the club in a short period. He went on to thank them [Adnan Beganovic and Nermin Basic] for their professionalism, commitment, and hard work.

โ€œIt is quite unfortunate that we had to come to a decision to part ways with Coaches Adnan and Nermin following the unfortunate string of results in the Betway Premiership,” said Sukazi.

“They both made a huge contribution to our club in a very short period. We thank both coaches for their professionalism, commitment, and hard work and wish them well in their future endeavours. Thank you, Nermin Basic. Your guidance and contribution have played an important role in our journey. Wishing you all the best in what lies ahead.”

The timing of the exit is remarkable, coming just under two weeks before the Rockets take on Durban City FC in the Nedbank Cup final at the New Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. Beganovic leaves behind a contrasting legacy; while his side endured one of the poorest league runs in the club’s history, he simultaneously steered them within reach of a major trophy.
