Orlando Pirates have taken a step further toward securing the DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] title following a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Magesi FC at the Seshego Stadium on Saturday.
The result ensures the Sea Robbers remain at the summit of the log, maintaining their three-point advantage over Mamelodi Sundowns in the DDC title race.
As it stands, Pirates occupy pole position with 69 points after 28 matches. However, the champagne remains on ice in Soweto, as Sundowns refuse to back down as yet.
The Brazilians made it clear on Sunday that they will fight till the end. Masandawana registered a 2-0 win against Richards Bay FC at Chatsworth Stadium, keeping the pressure firmly on the leaders, Pirates.
Sundowns currently sit in second place with 66 points from 28 outings. The last two games of the season will be crucial for Pirates and Bafana Ba Style in the title race.

STELLENBOSCH FC PUT AN END TO KAIZER CHIEFS’ UNBEATEN RUN
On the other hand, the weekend also saw the end of one of the league’s most impressive streaks. Stellenbosch FC proved too strong for Kaizer Chiefs, clinching a 2-0 victory at the Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday.
The result brought an end to the Chiefs’ nine-game unbeaten run. Despite the resilience shown by the young Amakhosi under the tutelage of coach Vela Khumalo in recent weeks, the Winelands side managed to unlock their defence.
Chiefs remain in fourth position on the table, sitting on 46 points from 28 matches.
