TS Galaxy striker Junior Zindoga has explained how winning the Nedbank Cup title will ease the club’s relegation fears as the curtains fall on the 2025/26 season.
The Rockets are gearing up to face Durban City FC in the final of the Nedbank at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday evening [18:00 CAT]. Galaxy are on course for domestic cup success after a difficult run in the second round of the season in the Betway Premiership.
They have had a dismal run under the leadership of head coach Adnan Beganovic, who parted ways with the club a fortnight ago. Since the beginning of 2026, the 43-year-old mentor had guided Galaxy to nine defeats and one draw in 10 league games.
Despite the indifferent run in the Premiership, Beganovic managed to reach the Nedbank Cup final with Galaxy, offering the club an opportunity to win the trophy they won back in 2019 with a shock victory over Kaizer Chiefs.
With Galaxy struggling for a consistent winning run, they are amongst the teams involved in the relegation dogfight, and they could be relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship should they fail to turn around their fortunes.
ZINDOGA BANKING ON NEDBANK CUP SUCCESS TO PROPEL GALAXY TO STRONG FINISH IN THE LEAGUE

The Mpumalanga-based side is currently 12th on the log with 26 points, having registered seven wins, five draws, and suffered 14 defeats in 26 league matches. They are six points ahead of 16th-placed Orbit College FC, who occupy the automatic relegation spot.
Galaxy are chasing the Nedbank Cup gold medal under the guidance of Bernard Parker, who has taken the coaching job on an interim basis after the sacking of Beganovic.
Speaking during the club’s media open day in midweek ahead of the final, Junior Zindoga stressed that triumph in the Nedbank Cup would elevate his side’s mood to avoid the chop.
“I think a win [in the final] will be nice, it will propel us in the last four games in the league,” Zindoga said.
“I think we haven’t been doing well, and now we are in a difficult situation. We are trying to come together and fix how we have been conceding goals, and hopefully it [winning the Nedbank] will propel us to finishing strong in the league.”
