The PSL has announced the Betway Premiership individual award winners for April, with Mamelodi Sundowns mentor Miguel Cardoso and Orlando Pirates star Oswin Appollis walking away with the top honours.

Masandawana head coach Cardoso has further established his dominance in the dugout, clinching his third consecutive Coach of the Month award.

Cardoso steered the Brazilians through a demanding April schedule, maintaining an unbeaten record across five fixtures [three wins and two draws].

This consistency ensured Bafana Ba Style reclaimed their spot at the summit of the log, providing the necessary momentum for the final title race.

The race for the coaching prize was tightly contested, with Cardoso edging out his Buccaneers’ counterpart Abdeslam Ouaddou and Kaizer Chiefs co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef.

In the player categories, it was all about Bafana Bafana winger Oswin Appollis. The Bucs star has been rewarded for his fine form with the Player of the Month award for April.

Appollis provided the spark for the Soweto giants’ attack, contributing four goals and one assist in just four matches.

His clinical nature in front of goal has been pivotal for the Sea Robbers. This has kept Pirates mathematically alive in the Betway Premiership title chase.

To top it off, he also walked away with the Goal of the Month award. The winning strike came against AmaZulu FC at Orlando Stadium on April 18th. This goal is characterised by his exceptional spatial awareness and a composed finish. It’s already being touted as a “Goal of the Season” contender.

Meanwhile, the Betway Premiership title race continues this week. Pirates are travelling to Stellenbosch FC, and Sundowns host Kaizer Chiefs in the midweek fixtures. Currently, Masandawana are placed at the top of the table with 64 points. Bucs follow in second place with 59 points.
