Farook Kadodia remains non-committal on Pitso Dladla decision

Farook Kadodia, chairman of Nedbank Cup champions Durban City FC, has reiterated the importance of retaining coach Pitso Dladla next season, though he stopped short of confirming his specific role.

Dladla, who has been working as an interim coach, delivered the Nedbank Cup Trophy following a 2-1 win against TS Galaxy at New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday.

The coach took over from Sinethemba Badela and led the club to a historic triumph, which also saw them qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup.

The head coach position at the club has been previously linked with a few other names, including that of former Sekhukhune United coach Eric Tinkler.

WILL PITSO DLADLA SECURE A PERMANENT COACHING JOB AT DURBAN CITY?

But many are of the view that Dladla has done enough to earn himself the position on a permanent basis, given what he has achieved.

Speaking on the Radio 2000 Sport show, Game on, Kadodia said the club has not made a final decision on the way forward regarding coach Dladla as yet.

“I think the most important thing is that we’ve got to manage this well without emotions,” he told the station.

“We’ve got to do a proper review at the end of the season to see where we are going forward. We would love to have coach Pitso in our structures. But I can’t confirm exactly what it will be.

“The most important thing is that coach Pitso grew up with our team in the NFD, and we sustained his appointment into the PSL as an assistant coach with Gavin Hunt and [Sinethemba] Badela.”

“But I think the most important thing is that we need to engage with the coach and see the way forward.”

“The thing is, there is nothing wrong in keeping him, but obviously, we have to see how we manage the situation first.”
