Makaab confirms interest in Arrows talent amid Pirates rumours

Ayabulela Maxwele at Golden Arrows

Prosport International agent Mike Makaab has confirmed interest in the services of Golden Arrows star Ayabulela Maxwele amid rumours linking the midfielder with a move to Orlando Pirates.

The talented midfielder has been a key figure at Arrows, producing impressive performances in the middle of the park. This comes after Maxwele received a new lease of life, joining Abafana Bes’thende following a stressful exit from Royal AM, which was expelled as a member club from the PSL due to financial issues.

The central midfielder signed for Arrows in March 2025 on a free transfer, and he has since found his best form under the guidance of head coach Manqoba Mngqithi.

Maxwele has showcased his defensive and attacking qualities, making him one of the best assets in the PSL market, with big clubs in Gauteng reportedly chasing his signature.

The 25-year-old has featured in 23 appearances across all competitions for the KZN-based side, which has a handful of other exciting players who have attracted interest from big guns.

Among Arrows’ standout performers currently attracting interest from Gauteng-based clubs are Siyanda Ndlovu, Isaac Cisse, Ayanda Jiyane, and Maxwele.

In the past few weeks, rumours have been swirling, linking Maxwele with a big move to the Buccaneers for the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.

Speaking in an interview with FARPost, the midfielder’s agent, Mike Makaab, confirmed that clubs have shown interest in his client without naming them, adding that nothing formal has been put on the table so far.

“Well, there’s a lot of interest in Maxwele, but we have to take it one step at a time. The right way to approach this is that if there is formal interest, the clubs have to engage each other, but I can tell you there is real interest in him,” Makaab told FARPost.
