Golden Arrows and Stellenbosch secured identical 2-0 wins as Magesi FC’s chances of surviving relegation were left slimmer after the Betway Premiership matches played on Saturday afternoon.
Chippa United could not capitalise on home advantage against Arrows at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. After a nervy start to the match, Isaac Cissé opened the scoring for Golden Arrows with a header from a low cross whipped in by Ntandoyenkosi Mabaso in the 17th minute.
They doubled their score on the stroke of half-time via Sede Dion, who poked the ball home from a direct pass from Nqobeko Dlamini. Chippa failed to come back and salvage a point.
POLOKWANE CITY FC AND MARUMO GALLANTS SHARE POINTS
At the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, Polokwane City FC and Marumo Gallants settled for a 1-1 draw. As a result, Gallants moved out of the red zone thanks to the draw away from home in Polokwane.
Polokwane City broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute through Banele Mnguni, assisted by Raymond Daniels. Marumo Gallants restored parity in the 46th minute through Mohamed Doumbia with a right-footed shot, which changed the tempo of the game.
At the Richards Bay Stadium, Richards Bay held Sekhukhune United to a 1-1 draw. Richards Bay scored via Lundi Mahala after 51 minutes with a powerful shot from inside the box following Thulani Gumede’s set piece.
Lehlogonolo Mojela equalised for Sekhukhune United courtesy of Keletso Makgalwa’s assist in the 75th minute. They remained deadlocked, and Richards Bay missed out on the opportunity of finishing within a lucrative top eight place due to the draw.
SIWELELE FC SINK MAGESI FC
Meanwhile, Siwelele FC snatched a narrow 1-0 win over Magesi FC, who will be relegated if they lose their last game of the season. The match was played at the Dr Molemela Stadium. Sphesihle Jeza scored the solitary goal of the match for Siwelele FC.
After a cagey affair in the first half, play opened up in the second half, and Jeza broke the deadlock in the 77th minute with a right-footed shot from very close range. Siyabonga Ndebele provided the assist from the corner kick.

STELLENBOSCH OUTSMART ORBIT COLLEGE FC
Stellenbosch put up a sterling show to beat relegation-threatened Orbit College FC 2-0 at the Danie Craven Stadium. Orbit College FC sit in 15th position with 24 points. They will hope to win the last match and ensure safety.
The home side, Stellenbosch, surged as early as the fourth minute through Chumani Butsaka’s left-footed shot that beat the Orbit College FC goalie Sekhoane Moerane.
Devin Titus provided the assist following a fast break. Stellies were the better side throughout the match. And Butsaka completed his brace in the 67th minute with a low shot assisted by Enyinnaya Kazie Godswill.
