Nomadic coach Brandon Truter has been appointed by Chippa United to replace Vusumuzi ‘Kanu’ Vilakazi, who recently parted ways with the club.
The experienced tactician has already been introduced to the squad ahead of the club’s decisive final Betway Premiership match of the season.
Truter attended the Chilli Boys’ training session on Monday, where he addressed the players for the first time after reaching an agreement with the Eastern Cape outfit.
FARPost understands he is expected to officially take charge of training on Tuesday as preparations intensify for the clash against Kaizer Chiefs in Durban this weekend.
BRANDON TRUTER TO LEAD CHIPPA UNITED AGAINST CHIEFS

He is expected to lead the side in the final fixture of the campaign. Truter is tasked with ensuring they avoid the relegation playoffs. They visit Amakhosi at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The club reportedly shifted Monday’s training session to the afternoon to accommodate Truter’s arrival. Players were informed that they would not immediately go on break after the Chiefs encounter. Instead, the team will continue training under the new coach.
Assistant coach Hlanga Dikeni, who has overseen the team since Vilakazi’s departure, will remain in his current role within the technical team.
Chippa head into the final weekend under immense pressure. This comes after a poor run of results left them dangerously close to the playoff zone. The Eastern Cape-based side needs a victory to guarantee survival on their own terms, without relying on results elsewhere.
The Chippa Mpengesi-owned side’s recent form has been alarming. Their only win in the last 10 encounters was a narrow 1-0 win over Siwelele FC in April.
Mpengesi has made several coaching changes since the start of the season. Sinethemba Badela started the season before making way for Musa Nyatama, who was replaced by Belgian mentor Luc Eymael. Vilakazi then took charge until recently, when the club parted ways with him over a string of poor results.
