Kaizer Chiefs loanee Vicky Mkhawana has sent a clear message to the Amakhosi management following a successful, promotion-winning stint in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with Kruger United.
The South African junior international spent the recently concluded 2025/26 campaign cutting his teeth in the gruelling trenches of the National First Division with newly promoted Betway Premiership outfit Kruger United FC.
Beyond establishing himself as a regular in the starting lineup for the Mpumalanga-based side, the highly-rated 20-year-old attacker enjoyed a dream start to his loan spell, netting a crucial goal on his debut appearance against Milford FC back in March.
Reflecting on his rapid footballing maturation, Mkhawana spoke exclusively to FARPost at the Kanyamazane Stadium on Sunday afternoon, shortly after the curtain came down on the dramatic Motsepe Foundation Championship season, to share the invaluable technical and mental lessons he absorbed during his productive stint with Kruger United.

“My ambition is to break into the [Kaizer Chiefs] first team, that’s always been my goal,” Mkhawana told FARPost after winning the Motsepe Foundation Championship with Kruger. “I want to play in the first team and prove my capabilities. I believe in having what it takes to do it, but we will see how it goes.”

The Limpopo-born attacker has also shared some of the experiences he gained during his time at Kruger United.
“I learnt a lot during my stay in Kruger because these are not the players I was used to,” he added. “These are older players than me, so it made me not be in my comfort zone. So it meant I needed to improve daily.”
