FARPost has it on good authority that Lerumo Lions FC have triggered the contract extension of the 2025/26 Motsepe Foundation Championship top goalscorer, Ntuthuko Mlotshwa, as several Betway Premiership clubs line up for his signature.

The talented forward joined the North West-based side in August 2025 as a free agent, right after Lerumo concluded a deal to purchase the Motsepe Foundation Championship status of Pretoria Callies.

Mlotshwa enjoyed a stellar breakout campaign, scoring 13 goals and weighing in with five assists in 26 league matches in the just-concluded South African second-tier season. He also chipped in with a goal in the 2026 Nedbank Cup competition.

The KwaZulu-Natal-born striker’s impressive goal-scoring exploits helped his side finish the 2025/26 Motsepe Foundation Championship campaign in eighth position, collecting 39 points from 30 outings.

In addition, it is worth noting that this was Lerumo’s first-ever campaign in the professional ranks.

LERUMO LIONS FC EXERCISE NTUTHUKO MLOTSHWA CONTRACT OPTION

This publication can exclusively reveal that the Lerumo hierarchy, led by owner Sibongile Marokana, has decided to exercise the contract option on Mlotshwa ahead of the new season.

With the option triggered, the gifted frontman’s contract with the club remains valid until the end of the 2027/28 season.

Meanwhile, a reliable FARPost source has confirmed that top-flight clubs are already queuing up, fighting for Mlotshwa’s signature ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

“The boy’s contract extension option was implemented, and he is still with Lerumo Lions,” the source told FARPost.

“Although there is one particular Betway Premiership team [that cannot be mentioned at the moment] that seems to be gaining the upper hand in the deal negotiations. But the management is weighing its options as they continue to negotiate with other Betway Premiership teams for the boy.”

Before his successful stint with Lerumo, the striker also turned out for teams such as Jomo Cosmos and Magesi FC.
