Kaizer Chiefs supporters were left asking questions on Sunday after winger Glody Makabi Lilepo posted cryptic farewell messages on Instagram, prompting speculation that he could be on his way out of Naturena.
The Congolese attacker shared two Instagram stories reading “leaving bye” and “bye bye”. One post featured Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi, while the other showed goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma, leaving fans questioning whether the 28-year-old was saying goodbye to teammates and staff.
However, indications are that Lilepo is not leaving the club anytime soon. The attacker remains under contract with Chiefs after signing a two-and-a-half-year deal in 2025.
Lilepo arrived as former Amakhosi coach Nasreddine Nabi’s first signing of the January 2025 transfer window. His agreement also included an option for a further season, meaning Chiefs still hold control over his immediate future.
He has a year left on his contract, which ends in June 2027, with an option likely to extend it to June 2028 if the club exercises it.
THE INSTAGRAM POST THAT SPARKED GLODY LILEPO ‘LEAVING’ KAIZER CHIEFS RUMOURS

According to club sources, Amakhosi are not entertaining offers for Makabi Lilepo, nor have they received any concrete interest in him. Lilepo has become one of the most influential figures at Chiefs in just 18 months, quickly establishing himself as a key player in the rebuilding project at the Soweto giants.
Since arriving at Naturena, the DR Congo international has scored 15 goals. He has featured in 56 matches and provided five assists. He was part of the Amakhosi squad that ended the club’s 10-year trophy drought by winning the 2025 Nedbank Cup, defeating their arch-rivals in the final.
Makabi Lilepo also played a key role in Chiefs’ third-place finish this season—marking their best league campaign in recent years. The achievement secures a return to the MTN8 for the first time in two seasons and seals their qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup.
Interestingly, the former Al Hilal winger shared the update via an Instagram story, a format where posts automatically disappear after 24 hours.
