Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Marcelo Allende has admitted he’s unsure of his future with the Tshwane giants, raising concerns over his place in the club’s plans for next season.
The midfield maestro is fresh from clinching the CAF Champions League title with Masandawana after defeating AS FAR of Morocco 2-1 on aggregate in the two-legged final.
Sundowns secured the second Champions League trophy, having won their first continental silverware back in 2016 under the then-head coach Pitso Mosimane.
In the successful run on the continent, Marcelo Allende has been the key figure to the team, forming a formidable combination with Teboho Mokoena and Jayden Adams in the middle of the park.
The Chilean midfielder featured in 14 matches in the Champions League and scored one goal. Across all competitions, the diminutive midfielder amassed 48 appearances, scored six goals, and chipped in with four assists.
Allende has proven to be a reliable member of the Sundowns squad in the past few seasons as they dominated the Betway Premiership before surrendering the trophy to Orlando Pirates in the 2025/26 campaign.
WHAT MARCELO ALLENDE SAID ABOUT HIS FUTURE AT MAMELODI SUNDOWNS

The 27-year-old star joined Sundowns in August 2022 from Montevideo City Torque in Uruguay. In his stay at Downs, Allende has won the hearts of supporters with his impressive energy to contribute both in defense and attack.
With the 2025/26 season wrapped, Allende has cast doubts on whether he will remain at Sundowns for the upcoming season. The highly-rated anchorman says he doesn’t know if he will be at the club despite being left with one year on his existing contract.
Responding to whether he’s coming back to Sundowns in an interview with Robert Marawa on MSW, Allende said, “I don’t know [if I’m coming back], I still have one year on my contract.
“But you never know, now is the time to enjoy the beautiful trophy. For me, it’s the most important trophy on the continent, and I want to go to my family and friends. After a month, we will see what’s going on.”
