Agent provides major update on Elias Mokwana amid growing interest

Cream Sports Management agent Pontsho Madumo has provided a major update on the future of winger Elias Mokwana amid growing interest in his services.

The talented winger is currently in the books of Al-Hazem in the Saudi Pro League after joining the club at the start of the 2025/26 season on a season-long loan from Esperance de Tunis. Mokwana left the Tunisian giants for a move to the Middle East in search of regular game time after struggling for playing minutes in his first season in North Africa.

The Bafana Bafana international initially joined Esperance in July 2024 from Betway Premiership side Sekhukhune United, as one of the most in-demand attackers in the PSL and across the African continent.

After moving to Esperance, Mokwana faced challenges such as unpaid salaries and a lack of game time, among other things. After the move to the African powerhouse did not go as planned, the 26-year-old completed a transfer to Al-Hazem in July 2025.

The highly-rated attacker has played regularly in Saudi Arabia, making 25 appearances across all competitions for Al-Hazem. However, his goal contribution left a lot to be desired, as he found the back of the net just once and provided three assists.
With his spell coming to an end in the next few weeks, Mokwana has reportedly attracted significant interest from unnamed clubs both on the African continent and overseas.

Al-Hazem will make a decision on Mokwana in the coming weeks, holding an option to secure the right-footed winger on a permanent basis.

Speaking in an interview with FARPost, Mokwana’s agent, Pontsho Madumo, revealed that his client will not be returning to his parent club once the loan deal expires. Madumo further disclosed that two teams in Saudi Arabia have already shown concrete interest in the former Platinum City Rovers star.

“Mokwana is on loan from Esperance to Al-Hazem, and the team has an option to make the move permanent,” Madumo told this publication.

“He’s not going to Esperance anymore, and I can tell you that there are two teams in Saudi Arabia that are interested in him, but the first option is with Al-Hazem to decide whether they are taking him on a permanent deal.”
