Kaizer Chiefs have moved to secure the future of striker Wandile Duba after reaching an agreement on a new contract for the academy graduate.
Duba’s previous deal was due to expire at the end of June, but FARPost understands that the club and the 21-year-old forward have agreed terms on a new long-term deal that will keep him at Naturena beyond the upcoming season.
The move underlines Chiefs’ belief in one of the club’s brightest young prospects, with the Piet Retief-born attacker viewed as an important part of the club’s plans going forward.
A product of the Chiefs development structures, Duba has steadily established himself as a first-team player since earning promotion to the senior squad.
DUBA REWARDED FOR STRONG END TO THE SEASON
Duba featured in 21 matches across all competitions during the 2025/26 campaign, scoring three goals and providing two assists. The striker started 13 matches, all in the Betway Premiership, and enjoyed an encouraging second half of the season, with all three of his goals coming after the AFCON break.

His performances during the run-in strengthened the club’s belief that he is ready to assume a bigger role in the squad. Although naturally a centre-forward, Duba scored all three of his goals while operating from the right flank.
Former Chiefs coach Cedric Kaze in March explained the decision to play him on the wing.
“We didn’t play him as a striker because we think that when he comes from a further position, he can get into the box and have more space to finish because he’s a fast player and he likes to run. So we believe that when he’s coming from a further position, he can get to the box and score,” explained Kaze at the time.
Since making the step up to the senior team, he has accumulated 60 appearances across all competitions, contributing nine goals and five assists.
With his future set to be resolved, Duba will now look to build on his recent progress and establish himself as a regular starter under Chiefs’ expected new technical leadership.
The club is widely expected to appoint French coach Fernando Da Cruz, who previously had a brief spell working within the Chiefs setup. He is tipped to take over following the departures of co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef.
ASHLEY DU PREEZ’S FUTURE REMAINS UNCERTAIN
Duba’s contract breakthrough comes amid uncertainty surrounding the future of fellow forward Ashley du Preez.
The speedy attacker has attracted interest from former club Stellenbosch FC after enduring a frustrating campaign with limited opportunities.
Du Preez made just eight appearances across all competitions last season, and Chiefs are understood to be willing to listen to offers. The club has also been linked with Stellenbosch midfielder Langelihle Phili, with reports suggesting Du Preez could potentially form part of discussions between the two clubs.
