Orlando Pirates winger Oswin Appollis has shed light on the bond he shares with club and Bafana Bafana teammate Relebohile Mofokeng, which has culminated in a potent attacking force.
The 24-year-old star joined the Buccaneers ahead of the 2025/26 season from Polokwane City FC. He was an instant hit after arriving at the Soweto giants and further cemented his Bafana spot.
Before the signing of Appollis, Mofokeng enjoyed a solid attacking combination with Mohau Nkota. But the 21-year-old struggled earlier on in the season, with the departure of Nkota seemingly taking its toll on him.
But he managed to reclaim his form, and a chemistry between him and Appollis began to flourish. The two were instrumental in helping the Buccaneers break a 14-year wait for the Betway Premiership title.
While Appollis contributed nine goals and six assists in league games, Mofokeng found the back of the net 10 times and provided eight assists. Their combination at club level is expected to spill into the national team as Bafana Bafana prepare to take part in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
HOW PIRATES ROOMMATES OSWIN APPOLLIS AND RELEBOHILE MOFOKENG CONNECT

“The relationship started because we are roommates. We are always talking in our room about what we can do to improve ourselves and the team. On the pitch, it comes down to movement—how we move for each other and how the next teammate moves for us,” Appollis told Soccerbeat.
“It becomes easier on the field, but as I said, it starts in the room. We watch a lot of soccer and match clips together.
“Obviously, we play PlayStation and speak about things off the field, too. But our relationship goes beyond just staying at the team hotel. We also go out with our girlfriends for supper, and we visit each other’s houses. It’s been a great relationship ever since I got here.”
