Knowledge Musona and Khama Billiat are set to face their former team, Kaizer Chiefs, when the Soweto giants clash with Scottland FC in the Toyota Cup at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg on July 26.

The Toyota Cup enters its third edition, and Amakhosi came up against Tanzanian giants Young Africans at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein in the competition’s inaugural year. They then hosted former African champions Asante Kotoko at Moses Mabhida Stadium in 2025.

Amakhosi have now lined up reigning Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League champions Scottland, who have taken the game in their home country by storm despite being in existence for just three years.

Chiefs will be hoping for a big test from Scottland as they prepare for the 2025/26 season, in which they will take part in the CAF Confederation Cup. Their opponents will also be gearing up for their maiden participation in the CAF Champions League.

A new coach is expected to be announced at Chiefs in the next few days, and fans will have an opportunity to watch him live for the first time in Rustenburg. Amakhosi new signings will also be on parade.

Tuesday’s announcement of Chiefs’ Toyota Cup opponents Scottland came just a few days after Amakhosi football manager Bobby Motaung visited Harare. He watched a league game between Scottland and CAPS United.

The ambitious team from Harare’s suburb of Mabvuku has carved itself a reputation as big spenders. They have in their books Musona and Billiat, who are former Chiefs players. Another ex-Amakhosi star at Scottland is Lincoln Zvasiya, who is the defenders coach.

Former Orlando Pirates striker Terrence Dzvukamanja is also at the Zimbabwean side popularly known as Mabviravira. Goalkeeper Talbert Shumba, who previously had a stint at Free State Stars, is also a Scottland player.

Walter Musona, formerly of Polokwane City, captains the Zimbabwean moneybags.

They are under the tutelage of former Chippa United coach Norman Mapeza, while ex-Mamelodi Sundowns forward Peter Ndlovu is their team manager. After just one season in the First Division, Scottland were promoted to the top flight and were crowned champions on their first attempt.
