Former Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze is expected to be unveiled as Sekhukhune United’s new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 season after reaching an agreement with the club.
The Burundian tactician is poised to succeed Eric Tinkler at Babina Noko following his departure from Chiefs at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
Kaze recently left Amakhosi after his contract expired, ending a stint that began midway through the 2024/25 season, when he joined to strengthen Nasreddine Nabi’s technical team. This was after the abrupt exit of Fernando Da Cruz.
Kaze’s exit from Amakhosi was part of a broader restructuring that also saw his co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef, conditioning coach Majdi Safi and goalkeeper mentor Ilyes Mzoughi leave Naturena.
FARPost understands that Kaze has already put pen to paper on a deal with Sekhukhune United, with only the club’s official announcement now awaited. The former Young Africans mentor is expected to lead Babina Noko into the new campaign as they look to establish themselves among the leading teams in the Betway Premiership. Babina Noko finished fifth last season because of a mid-season slump.
KAZE EDGES ZWANE IN SEKHUKHUNE’S COACHING SEARCH

Kaze’s appointment follows an extensive search by Sekhukhune United to identify the right candidate to lead the club into a new era. Among the coaches considered was AmaZulu FC mentor Arthur Zwane, who emerged as one of the strongest contenders for the position following an impressive campaign in which Usuthu finished fourth in the Betway Premiership.
Sekhukhune opted for Kaze as they prepare for the new season. The 45-year-old holds a Bachelor of Sport Science degree and possesses both CAF and German Football Federation A Licences. His coaching journey has taken him across East and Central Africa, where he has enjoyed notable success.
Among his achievements are two league titles as head coach of Atletico Olympic in Burundi and Tanzanian giants Yanga, where he was an assistant. He also enjoyed a successful spell with Mukura Victory Sports in Rwanda and has served in various roles within the Burundi national team structure.
During his time at Amakhosi, Kaze stepped into a more prominent role following Nabi’s exit in September 2025. Together with Ben Youssef, they guided the Soweto giants to their best finish post-COVID.
They finished third, securing a place in the CAF Confederation Cup and a spot in the MTN8.
