Cape Town City FC winger Jaedin Rhodes is set for a move to Europe after the Citizens reached an agreement with Austrian Bundesliga side SV Ried for his transfer.

The deal, first reported by iDiski Times, is understood to be fully agreed between the two clubs, with personal terms also settled between the Austrian outfit and the 23-year-old attacker.

The agreement brings an end to weeks of negotiations after SV Ried identified Rhodes as one of their priority targets ahead of the new season. The Austrian club had initially seen an opening offer rejected before returning with an improved proposal that ultimately convinced Cape Town City to sanction the move.

Rhodes has been one of City’s standout performers since graduating from the club’s development structures and breaking into the senior team. His consistency and versatility in attack have made him one of the most highly rated young wide players in South African football.

The winger’s desire to test himself abroad also played a significant role in the negotiations, particularly after City’s failure to secure an immediate return to the Betway Premiership following their relegation playoff campaign.

JAEDIN RHODES TO REPLACE ANTONIO VAN WYK

For SV Ried, Rhodes is expected to help fill the void left by Antonio van Wyk, who is on the verge of joining Mamelodi Sundowns after impressing during his time in Austria. SV Ried are also home to former Kaizer Chiefs captain Yusuf Maart.

Maart joined the club at the start of the 2025/26 season and became an instant influence in the squad. In his maiden season overseas, he started 28 matches, missing only two.

Once the remaining administrative processes are completed, the winger is expected to travel to Austria to begin preparations for the 2026/27 season with his new club.

Rhodes leaves Cape Town City having established himself as a key figure in the first team and one of the club’s most successful academy graduates in recent years.

He has made over 85 appearances in the South African top flight, scoring nine goals and providing four assists. When you factor in the last two seasons in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, his appearances in senior team football total over 150.
