Raja Club Athletic cut ties with Fadlu Davids

Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic have parted ways with South African coach Fadlu Davids and his technical team by mutual agreement.

The decision comes after the club’s 2-0 away defeat to KACM on Tuesday. Davids, 45, was appointed as Raja’s head gaffer on September 22 last year, shortly after resigning from his post at Tanzanian powerhouse Simba SC.

The former Orlando Pirates man was no stranger to the Casablanca-based outfit. He had previously served as an assistant to German tactician Josef Zinnbauer during the 2023/24 campaign. Together, they famously guided Raja to an unbeaten domestic double, clinching both the Botola Pro League title and the Throne Cup.

Davids took over the reins from Lassaad Chabbi, bringing with him an all-South African backroom staff. His departing technical team includes: Darian Wilken [assistant coach], Durell Butler [fitness coach], Mueez Kajee [ served as video analyst], and Wayne Sandilands [goalkeeper coach].

He leaves the Green Eagles sitting fifth on the league standings, having amassed 42 points from 23 matches. Raja remain firmly in the title hunt, trailing log leaders RS Berkane by just four points.
