Musona puts on five-star show in front of Bobby Motaung ahead of Toyota Cup

Knowledge Musona celebrating his goal against Hardrock FC on Sunday

Kaizer Chiefs Football Manager Bobby Motaung watched from the stands at the Rufaro Stadium in Harare as Knowledge Musona put on a five-star display for Scottland FC in the Castle Lager PSL ahead of the 2026 Toyota Cup.

At 35, Knowledge Musona is ageing like fine wine at Scottland FC. Zimbabwe’s big spenders have seen him net six goals in his last five matches, taking his season tally to seven.

On Sunday, the Warriors legend grabbed a first-half brace for the Harare-based side in a top-of-the-table clash against Hardrock FC. He opened the scoring after 22 minutes with a deft chest finish from a corner whipped in by his younger brother Walter Musona.

On the stroke of halftime, the former Chiefs man doubled the lead, smashing home a volley after Khama Billiat’s shot cannoned off the crossbar. The match ended 2-0 in Scottland’s favour, and Musona was Man of the Match. Musona returned to Zimbabwe halfway through the 2025 season and is turning back the hands of time.

And his return to South African soil in the 2026 Toyota Cup on 26 July is now a mouthwatering prospect. While Musona has been banging in goals, it’s his link-up with Walter and Billiat that has been electric. The trio have combined for 19 goals in 18 matches. Billiat has seven, Walter has five, and Musona has seven to his name.

As it stands, Scottland FC sit top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League with 37 points from 18 matches. Ngezi Platinum Stars are second with 35 points. Hardrock FC dropped to third with 32 points.

DEADLY TRIO HITS TOP FORM AHEAD OF AMAKHOSI CLASH IN TOYOTA CUP

Musona and Billiat will be eager to hit top form when they face their former club, Chiefs. The Soweto giants meet Scottland FC in the Toyota Cup at Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg on July 26.

The Toyota Cup returns for its third edition. In the inaugural edition, the Betway Premiership giants faced Tanzanian heavyweights Young Africans at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein. They then hosted former African champions Asante Kotoko at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium in 2025.

This time, Chiefs line up against the reigning Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League champions, Scottland FC. Despite only forming three years ago, Scottland FC have taken Zimbabwean football by storm.

Chiefs will want a serious test from Scottland as they tune up for the 2026/27 PSL season and their CAF Confederation Cup campaign. Their opponents are also sharpening up for a historic first appearance in the CAF Champions League.
