Betway Premiership side Durban City FC have confirmed the departure of their coach Pitso Dladla, who led them to the 2026 Nedbank Cup triumph.
Dladla is heavily linked with a move to Golden Arrows, where he is reportedly set to succeed Manqoba Mngqithi at the helm of the senior team.
Arrows are currently restructuring their entire backroom department. Head coach Mngqithi and his assistant coaches, Kagisho Dikgacoi and Musa Bilankulu, have parted ways with the club as their contracts expire at the end of June.
On the other hand, Dladla’s departure from Durban City marks the end of a highly successful chapter with the KZN side. He was an integral part of the technical team that secured promotion to the elite league at the end of the 2024/25 season.
He then stepped up to guide the club to their first-ever major domestic silverware, defeating TS Galaxy 2-1 in the Nedbank Cup final at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in May 2026.
In doing so, Dladla broke a 17-year trophy drought for KwaZulu-Natal teams. The last KZN team to win a major domestic cup was the very same Arrows side in 2009—coincidentally managed by Mngqithi—when they thrashed Ajax Cape Town 6-0 to lift the MTN8.

DURBAN CITY FC’S STATEMENT ON PITSO DLADLA’S DEPARTURE
The side confirmed the news via an official media release on Monday night, acknowledging Dladla’s massive impact during his tenure at the club.
“Durban City FC can confirm that coach Pitso Dladla has left the Club,” the statement reads.
“Dladla departs after a defining spell at Durban City FC, having contributed to the club’s promotion to the Betway Premiership in a technical capacity, and later guiding the team to Nedbank Cup glory as interim coach.
“Durban City FC thanks Pitso Dladla for his contribution to the Club and wishes him every success in the future.”
