Just days after parting ways with Highbury FC, highly-rated tactician Kabelo Sibiya is on the verge of making a swift return to the dugout with Magesi FC, FARPost has reliably learnt.

Sibiya is understood to have agreed to terms in principle to fill the vacant head coaching post at Dikwena Tša Meetse, anchoring the club’s ambitions for the upcoming season.

The Eastern Cape side confirmed the exit of Sibiya on Wednesday, 24 June. This was after a successful tenure with the club since guiding them to the South African second tier.

Sibiya helped the side secure professional status after winning the 2023/24 SAFA ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs. Highbury defeated Mpumalanga’s Kruger United 2-0 in the national playoffs final at the Mxolisi Dicky Jacobs Stadium in July 2024.

In the recently concluded campaign, which was their second season in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, the club finished in a commendable sixth position after collecting 42 points from 30 outings.

KABELO SIBIYA SET TO TAKE OVER THE REINS AT MAGESI FC

FARPost can reveal that Sibiya will take over the coaching reins from veteran mentor Allan Freese at Magesi for the upcoming season.

Magesi were recently relegated from the Betway Premiership to the National First Division [NFD]. This came after the club failed to retain their top-flight status in the PSL Promotion/Relegation Playoffs.

The Limpopo-based outfit will be looking to Sibiya’s proven track record to lead the club to greater heights. He’s expected to help rebuild and launch a strong campaign for a quick return to the Betway Premiership.

MORGAN MAMMILA’S ROLE CLARIFICATION AT MAGESI FC

Meanwhile, as previously reported by this website, initial indications suggested that Morgan Mammila was set to take up the coaching job at the Limpopo club.

However, this publication has since discovered that the former Chippa United and Baroka FC coach, Mammila, will instead be part of the Magesi management structure in the new season. He will also work closely with the incoming technical team.

This comes after Mammila has made a U-turn on his move to Lerumo Lions. He was set to take over as Chief Operating Officer ahead of new season.
