Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Mfundo Vilakazi has sent a message to highly-rated Bafana Bafana attacker Relebohile Mofokeng following his European breakthrough from Orlando Pirates.
The Buccaneers announced on Wednesday that they have reached an agreement with Belgian Jupiler Pro League side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise for the transfer of Mofokeng. Pirates revealed that they had agreed with the Brussels-based side before the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but the two parties opted to keep the development under wraps to allow the player to fully focus on the global football competition.
Mofokeng was at the World Cup with Bafana Bafana and made three appearances, including two starts against South Korea and the Round of 32 exit against co-hosts Canada. He also came on as a substitute in the 1-1 draw with the Czech Republic after he had been an unused substitute in the tournament opener against Mexico.
It was a football showpiece in which he proved to Bafana coach Hugo Broos that he was cut for the big stage as he displayed his qualities before a global audience. That came against the backdrop of a sensational season in which he is being tipped for the PSL Football of the Year award.
He scooped six Betway Premiership Man of the Match awards during the course of the term while also being named Player of the Month on three occasions.
RELEBOHILE MOFOKENG’S EUROPEAN BREAKTHROUGH AND VILAKAZI’S REACTION

It comes as no surprise that Mofokeng has earned himself a move to Belgium. The confirmation of Royale Union Saint-Gilloise as his new club ended speculation around his future.
The transfer to Europe has happened after four seasons of the 21-year-old playing PSL football, having broken into the top-flight league as a raw teenager. That has left Chiefs star Vilakazi happy for Mofokeng, whom he regards as his close friend.
“My heart is full. All the best my friend. God bless you president yama 2k,” Vilakazi posted on Instagram after the announcement of Mofokeng’s transfer on Wednesday.
Mofokeng joins Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, who will participate in the UEFA Champions League group stage qualifiers next season.
