Stellenbosch FC CEO Rob Benadie has explained why the club decided to rope in the talented forward Sinoxolo Kwayiba ahead of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
The Cape Winelands-based outfit officially announced the acquisition of the attacker on a permanent transfer from the Eastern Cape side Chippa United.
The 26-year-old returned to the Chilli Boys in the January transfer window from the Soweto giants Orlando Pirates, whom he had joined in July last year from the Gqeberha-based outfit.
However, Kwayiba struggled to break into the Buccaneers’ starting eleven, as he only managed to make four appearances during his brief stint at Pirates.
In order to secure regular game time, both clubs agreed to a deal that saw the talented forward return to the Gqeberha-based club.
Kwayiba arrives at Stellies with a reputation as a proven goal-getter in the South African top flight. The former Buccaneers forward has found the back of the net 16 times in 51 appearances in the Betway Premiership.
Beyond his domestic exploits, the Kwayiba boasts international experience, having earned five caps for Bafana Bafana.
He registered his first international goal for the South African men’s national team during a friendly victory over Mozambique last year.

ROB BENADIE ON WHAT KWAYIBA BRINGS TO STELLIES
Benadie expressed his immense satisfaction with securing the signature of a player who has been on the Stellies radar for a significant period.
“Sinoxolo is an exciting player who we have admired for some time, so we are delighted to welcome him to the Club,” Benadie stated in a statement released by Stellenbosch on Thursday, 2 July 2026.
“He is a proven goalscorer and match-winner who has consistently displayed his ability to compete at the highest level, and we believe he will be a valuable addition to our squad.”
Kwayiba’s reinforcement looks set to provide the much-needed experience in the Stellies’ striking force, as they look to finish in a better position in the upcoming campaign.
