Orlando Pirates dominated the 2025/26 Premier Soccer League [PSL] Awards nominations list released on Friday, July 3, 2026, following a highly successful domestic campaign.
The club secured nods across nearly every major category, confirming their status as the standout team of the season after a historic campaign that saw the Soweto giants clinch a domestic treble.
The official nominees were unveiled by the league ahead of the final ceremony later this month. The winners are set to be crowned at a live-broadcast gala event on Monday, July 27, 2026.
The overwhelming number of nominations comes off the back of a relentless run of form under the stewardship of Moroccan head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou. Bucs completed a domestic treble, successfully securing the MTN8 title, the Carling Knockout Cup, and the Betway Premiership trophy.
By capturing the league title with 69 points, just one point ahead of arch-rivals Mamelodi Sundowns, the Buccaneers dramatically dethroned Sundowns, effectively halting their record-shattering streak of eight consecutive league titles.
The triumph also marked the end of a painful 14-year league title drought for the Buccaneers, whose last Premiership crown dated back to the 2011/12 season.
ORLANDO PIRATES DUO RELEBOHILE MOFOKENG AND OSWIN APPOLLIS NOMINATED FOR BIG AWARDS
In the nominations list, Relebohile Mofokeng and Oswin Appollis bagged recognition for the night’s biggest prizes, with both stars nominated for the Betway Premiership Footballer of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season.
Mofokeng, who recently completed a move to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, made 27 league appearances, scoring 10 goals and providing eight assists, while Appollis featured in 30 games with nine goals and six assists to his name.
