Simba SC and Young Africans enquire about Keletso Makgalwa

Keletso Makgalwa at Sekhukhune United

Tanzanian giants Simba SC and Young Africans are set to enter a bidding war for the services of highly-rated Sekhukhune United winger Keletso Makgalwa, FARPost has established.

Makgalwa has attracted interest from Tanzania, with the two clubs looking to beef up their squads for the next season. The attacker has proven to be one of the best creative players in the Betway Premiership with skill and pace to torment defenders.

The Mamelodi Sundowns youth graduate has been a key player for Babina Noko over the past two seasons, racking up goals and assists.

Makgalwa’s best season was in 2024/25, when he scored six goals and provided 11 assists in 32 appearances across all competitions. In that season, Makgalwa received recognition after being nominated for Betway Premiership Footballer of the Season and Player’s Player of the Season in the 2025 PSL Awards, which were subsequently won by Lucas Ribeiro Costa.

His rising profile beyond South Africa’s borders has been further elevated by his proximity to the Bafana Bafana setup. The winger received his maiden national team call-up in November 2025 for an international friendly against Zambia ahead of the 2025 AFCON, though he didn’t get any game time. He went on to force his way into Hugo Broos’ preliminary squad for the tournament in Morocco but ultimately missed out on the final selection.

Last season, the former SA junior international bagged nine assists in 34 games for Sekhukhune, remaining one of the most sought-after players in the PSL and across the African continent.

This publication has learnt that Tanzanian rivals Simba and Yanga have both made an approach for Makgalwa as a potential signing. South African tactician Steve Barker, who is a huge admirer of the talented attacker, is believed to want him at Simba, while Yanga are also firmly in the picture.

While both teams are yet to send formal offers for Makgalwa, they are expected to intensify their push for the signature of the diminutive winger in the coming days.

But Yanga and Simba will not have an easy fight in chasing Makgalwa, who has also attracted interest from several clubs in the Betway Premiership.

And while Sekhukhune previously held onto their prized asset amid transfer interest from the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, Babina Noko are now believed to be open to selling the attacker—provided a suitor meets their valuation.
