Siwelele FC have continued their major squad overhaul, announcing a further 10 player departures today. Among the high-profile exits is Bafana Bafana international goalkeeper Ricardo Goss, who is set for a return to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Goss was exceptional for the Mangaung-based side in their first season in the SA top-flight. He was one of the players who moved to the club following their purchase of SuperSport United. Since his loan move from Sundowns, the 32-year-old has also gained the recognition of national team coach Hugo Broos. He was part of the Bafana Bafana side that was eliminated in the round of 32 by co-hosts Canada at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

And due to his good performances in the Siwelele colours, he is a nominee for the 2025/26 Betway Premiership Goalkeeper of the Season alongside Kaizer Chiefs’ Brandon Petersen and Sipho Chaine of Orlando Pirates.

After gaining valuable experience, Goss is now set for a return to his parent club Sundowns ahead of the 2026/27 season. He will compete for the number-one spot with his national team captain, Ronwen Williams, as well as Uganda international Denis Onyango, returning fellow countryman Ismael Watenga, and Reyaad Pieterse.

DDC shot-stopper Nqobani Biyela is also training with the first team ahead of the new season, but it seems one of the senior keepers will be sent on loan, mirroring previous campaigns.”

Meanwhile, Siwelele seem to have already announced Gross’ replacement with the signing of Botswana international goalkeeper Goitseone Phoko from Jwaneng Galaxy.

Earlier on Tuesday, Siwelele initially confirmed the departure of 12 players. That group includes Enoch Quaicoe, Lyle Lakay, Neo Rapoo, Pogiso Sanoka, Happy Mashiane, Gape Moralo, Keanin Ayer, Lazola Maku, Ghampani Lungu, Kgaogelo Sekgota, Bohlale Ngwato, and Thabang Mahlangu.

In a subsequent statement issued on the same day, the club announced a further wave of exits. High-profile names such as Mahlatse Makudubela, Maloisane Mokhele, Thabo Mokhele, Chibuike Ohizu, Buhle Mkhwanazi, Samir Nurković, Nyiko Mobbie, Samkelo Zwane, Koketso Sekgodiso, and Mandlenkosi Nkosi have also parted ways with the outfit.

These sweeping changes cement Siwelele as one of the busiest teams in the current transfer window, as they look to radically overhaul the squad to improve on last season’s 10th-place finish under the guidance of head coach Lehlohonolo Seema.
