Motsepe Foundation Championship side The Bees FC have appealed the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber [PSL DRC] ruling that went in favour of their former head coach, Humphrey Mlwane.
The initial verdict was handed down on 13 April 2026 by PSL DRC chairperson, Advocate Mosupi Mashele. He ruled that the Mpumalanga club must compensate the former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder for the remainder of his contract.
Mlwane had six months left on his deal at the time of his sacking, with the mandated settlement amount totaling just over R191,000.
ARBITRATION HEARING DATE SET FOR THE MATTER BETWEEN THE BEES AND HUMPHREY MLWANE
FARPost can exclusively reveal that the legal representatives for both parties have agreed on 20 July 2026 as the date for the arbitration hearing. However, they are currently awaiting final confirmation from the National Soccer League [NSL].
The contract dispute stems from Mlwane’s dismissal in November 2025, just 12 games into the 2025/26 Motsepe Foundation Championship season.
The falling out came as a surprise given Mlwane’s history and success with the club. He was the mastermind behind the team’s historic 2024/25 campaign, guiding them to the Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League champions.
He then successfully secured their promotion to the South African football second tier after finishing as runners-up in the SAFA ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs held in Gauteng in July 2025.

HUMPHREY MLWANE RUBBISHES ‘MUTUAL AGREEMENT’ CLAIMS
Speaking to FARPost in April this year, Mlwane cleared the air regarding his exit from the club. He slammed the team’s statement about his departure as misleading. At the time of his sacking, The Bees released a media statement claiming the two parties had parted ways by mutual consent—a claim that Mlwane denied.
“The issue was the agreement we signed with them. Even though the team was not doing well, [the exit] was supposed to be discussed in terms of a settlement,” Mlwane told FARPost.
“But we couldn’t agree on that matter of settlement. So, they went on to issue a statement on their social media platforms that we parted ways amicably and that we had reached an agreement. That was something I didn’t agree with.
“The way things unfolded was unfair treatment on my part because you remember where I come from with this team. This case started last year after my dismissal in November.”
