Former Black Leopards striker Donald Mudau has surfaced at Motsepe Foundation Championship side Cape Town City FC. FARPost can reveal that the frontman has been training with the Citizens for the past few days, looking to impress the technical team and land a deal ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

This comes after Leopards suffered relegation to the SAFA Limpopo ABC Motsepe League from the South African second tier last season, leaving the player a free agent.

Lidoda Duvha dropped to the third tier after finishing 15th in the NFD, with just 28 points from 30 games.

Mudau had joined Leopards in January 2024 from the neighbours Venda FC. In addition, the player also turned out for Limpopo teams such as Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila [TTM] and Mikhado FC.

DONALD MUDAU SPOTTED AT CAPE TOWN CITY FC

FARPost can confirm that Mudau is being assessed by the Mother City-based outfit, as they aim to strengthen their striking force for the new season.

Meanwhile, in the current window period, Cape Town City has already roped in talented winger Mfundo Thikazi, defender Parsley Fielies, Bolivian defender Marcelo Suárez, former Bafana Bafana international Thabang Monare, and Dutch midfielder Rai Vloet.

The arrival of these new recruits shows just how serious the Cape club is about correcting the mistakes of the 2025/26 season, which ended in heartbreak as they sought to return to the South African top-flight.

The John Comitis-owned side finished as runners-up in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, accumulating 54 points from their 30 league outings. They missed out on automatic promotion to the Betway Premiership, with Kruger United taking the spot. The Mpumalanga club topped the standings with 62 points.

While the club was handed a second lifeline via the PSL Promotional/Relegation Playoffs, they finished bottom of the three-team mini-log. They managed to collect four points from their four playoff matches. As a result, they fell short of securing a promotion back to the South African elite league.
