Former Upington City FC and Moroka Swallows head coach Musa Nyatama is set to take up a coaching role at Betway Premiership outfit Durban City FC, FARPost can reveal.
FARPost has also established that Nyatama and the KwaZulu-Natal club are in advanced talks, with the former midfielder expected to join Khalil Ben Youssef’s technical team as assistant coach.
Nyatama arrived in Durban on Thursday to finalise the move. Before opening negotiations with the coach, Durban City first sought permission from Motsepe Foundation Championship side Upington City FC, where Nyatama is currently under contract.
It is understood that Ben Youssef personally identified Nyatama as his preferred assistant as Durban City continue to strengthen their technical department ahead of the new season.

Durban City were given the greenlight to engage the coach by Upington. The move comes nine months after Nyatama was appointed head coach of Upington City on a two-year contract.
He succeeded Abram Mongoya, who left the club after disciplinary proceedings were instituted against him over an unauthorised role with the Lesotho national team. He guided the Northern Cape side to a seventh-place finish.
Earlier last season, Nyatama was appointed assistant coach at Chippa United alongside Sinethemba Badela. However, the pair were dismissed after just three league matches.
Despite that short-lived spell in Gqeberha, Nyatama remains highly regarded in coaching circles, having impressed during his stint as Moroka Swallows’ caretaker coach, guiding the club to safety.
Meanwhile, the reigning Nedbank Cup winners have moved swiftly to reinforce their goalkeeping department following the departures of experienced shot-stopper Darren Keet and Ayanda Mtshali.
The Citizens have secured the signing of Ugandan international Salim Magoola after his contract with Richards Bay expired at the end of June. The 31-year-old joins as a free agent, bringing valuable international experience to the squad.
Magoola spent three seasons with the Natal Rich Boys after arriving from the now-defunct Pretoria Callies in July 2022. During his time at Richards Bay, he made 85 appearances across all competitions and established himself as one of the club’s most reliable performers.
CT City have also strengthened their outfield options, confirming the arrivals of former Kaizer Chiefs duo Gastón Sirino and Tashreeq Morris as the club continues to reshape its squad ahead of the new season under head coach Musa Nyatama.
