Betway Premiership side Sekhukhune United have officially announced the signing of Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi ahead of the 2026/27 season, as reported by FARPost.
The talented goalie joined Sekhukhune from Pirates to beef up Cedric Kaze’s squad as the club aims for an impressive showing in the upcoming season.
Sekhukhune acquired the services of the experienced goalkeeper after reaching an agreement with Pirates for a transfer move. Buthelezi is joining United as a replacement for Renaldo Leaner, who has left the club on a free transfer to join Kaizer Chiefs.
The KZN-born goalkeeper secured his future with Sekhukhune, having spent the past three seasons with the reigning Betway Premiership champions.
In his time with the colours of Pirates, Buthelezi played second choice behind the regular first choice Sipho Chaine, who has been pivotal between the sticks for the Sea Robbers.
The 28-year-old shot stopper featured in 22 appearances across all competitions for Pirates, keeping 12 clean sheets and conceding on 14 occasions.

After limited game time with the Buccaneers, Buthelezi has begun a new career chapter with Sekhukhune, where he will compete with Toaster Nsabata and Manuel Sapunga for the number one spot in the goalkeeping position.
