Kaizer Chiefs are in the final stages of concluding Glody Makabi Lilepo’s transfer to Libyan giants Al Ahly Benghazi, with all parties understood to be aligned on the move.
FARPost has established that the clubs are putting the final touches on the agreement, while personal terms between the DR Congo forward and Al Ahly Benghazi have already been settled.
This publication also understands there is confidence on both sides that the deal will be completed imminently, with only the remaining administrative and contractual processes to be concluded.
The latest developments also appear to explain Lilepo’s absence from Chiefs’ pre-season training camp in Spain, where he was not included in the travelling squad amid ongoing discussions about his future.
The Benghazi-based outfit recently tabled a lucrative offer for the 28-year-old, one that convinced Chiefs to sanction his departure ahead of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign.
Lilepo’s willingness to make the switch has also aided negotiations. The Kinshasa-born star is believed to have welcomed the opportunity to return to North Africa, where he previously enjoyed a successful spell with Sudanese side Al Hilal.

As previously reported by FARPost, Chiefs had remained open to offers for the player should a compelling proposal arrive.
Interest in his services has been growing in recent weeks, with Morocco’s AS FAR Rabat among the clubs reportedly monitoring his situation before Al Ahly Benghazi emerged as frontrunners for his signature.
Should the transfer proceed as expected, Chiefs will bid farewell to a player who made a significant impact during his relatively short stint at Naturena. Lilepo played a key role in helping the Soweto giants end their decade-long trophy drought.
Under former coach Nasreddine Nabi, Lilepo was key as they won the 2025 Nedbank Cup. He continued his exploits last season, helping them secure a third-place finish in the league.
The attacker, who turns 29 later this month, remains under contract with Chiefs until June 2027. However, there is an option to extend for a further year. Lilepo has registered 15 goals and five assists in 56 appearances across all competitions.
Barring any unforeseen developments, Lilepo is now expected to continue his career in Libya, with an official announcement anticipated once the final paperwork is completed.
