Siphesihle Maduna’s anticipated return to AmaZulu FC hangs in the balance, with FARPost understanding that Usuthu have cooled their interest in the midfielder due to TS Galaxy’s transfer demands.
Maduna appeared destined for an emotional return to the club where he began his professional career after being left out of TS Galaxy’s squad unveiling in Pretoria on Saturday. The writing seemed to be on the wall when new signing Siphesihle Tati inherited the No.10 jersey previously worn by the 26-year-old midfielder.
However, while Galaxy remain keen to part ways with Maduna, negotiations have become complicated largely over the transfer fee The Rockets are seeking. As a result, Usuthu have somewhat cooled their pursuit despite having initially shown strong interest in bringing him back to Durban.
Galaxy, on the other hand, are understood to be eager to facilitate Maduna’s exit as they continue reshaping their squad ahead of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
WHAT TS GALAXY’S TIM SUKAZI SAID ABOUT SIPHESIHLE MADUNA
TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi confirmed over the weekend that Maduna is in talks over a move elsewhere, although he would not reveal the interested club.
“We anticipate a move, to be honest. There have been approaches, so we are in talks. When the move happens, we will announce it, or the club concerned will announce it. So, it’s a process,” Sukazi told the media.
“But this is football. I always say it’s not it until it’s done, until you’ve put pen to paper. But up to now, it’s quite good. It sounds like he might find a new home.”
The Mpumalanga club unveiled a host of new signings, including Bongani van Heiden, Anslin Williams, Simthandile Sishi, Lennol Mathebula, Edson Khumalo, Zuko Gxabuza, Mpho Maoke, Sifiso Ngobeni, Thabelo Tshikwete, Nhlakanipho Ngwenya, Azola Jakalashe, Katekane Mhlongo, Camagu Mdevulana and Tati.
Former Mamelodi Sundowns left back, Ngobeni, was among the headline additions after joining from Cape Town City FC. Tati’s arrival from Lerumo Lions has generated excitement at the club.
Maduna’s potential departure comes after reviving his career at Galaxy following difficult spells at Usuthu and Cape Town Spurs. Since joining The Rockets at the start of the 2024/25 season, he has re-established himself as a reliable midfield presence, making 32 appearances while contributing one goal and two assists.
