The Royal Bafokeng Nation has provided a key update on the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace renovations ahead of the Toyota Cup clash between Kaizer Chiefs and Scottland FC.
Amakhosi are set to face the Zimbabwean champions in the third edition of the Toyota Cup at the 2010 FIFA World Cup venue in Phokeng near Rustenburg on Sunday, 26 July 2026.
This marks the first time in three years that the stadium will be used, following comprehensive remedial maintenance and upgrades since 2023.
Marumo Gallants were the last club to play at the venue when they hosted Tanzanian giants Young Africans in the CAF Confederation Cup. Amakhosi are now set to re-open the facility during the pre-season match that kicks off at 15:00.

In a statement issued on their Facebook platform on Wednesday, the Royal Bafokeng Nation confirmed that renovations have been completed.
“The Royal Bafokeng Nation [RBN] is proud to announce that the refurbishment of the Royal Bafokeng Sports Complex has been completed, and the facility is once again ready to host world-class sport, recreation and community events,” the RBN said in a statement.

“To preserve its legacy and ensure it continues to meet national and international standards, the facility has undergone extensive upgrades and remedial maintenance, including critical fire, emergency and safety system improvements.
“The reopening will be marked by the 2026 Toyota Cup on Sunday, 26 July 2026, when Kaizer Chiefs take on Zimbabwean champions Scotland FC in a thrilling pre-season fixture,” they said.
Meanwhile, the reopening of the facility will also feature a special curtain-raiser between Kaizer Chiefs Legends and the Jozi Masters, bringing together some of football’s most celebrated names.
