Footballers Sports Marketing agent Ntobatsi Masegala has explained why Keletso Makgalwa chose Simba SC over Young Africans SC, who are coached by his former Mamelodi Sundowns mentor, Manqoba Mngqithi.
The highly-rated winger recently completed a transfer to Simba SC from Betway Premiership side Sekhukhune United, embarking on a new chapter in the Tanzanian Premier League.
Over the past few weeks, Makgalwa dominated headlines across the region as both East African powerhouses locked horns for his signature following an impressive two-season spell with Babina Noko.
Both Yanga and Simba registered keen interest in the former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker, triggering a heated bidding war before the Reds of Msimbazi ultimately won the race.
Simba snapped up Makgalwa as they intensify preparations for the 2026/27 campaign, aiming to dethrone champions Yanga and make a strong impact in the CAF Champions League.
The 29-year-old made 67 appearances across all competitions during his time with Sekhukhune, contributing six goals and 20 assists. His standout attacking numbers prompted newly appointed Young Africans head coach Mngqithi to try and lure him to Yanga, but Simba acted decisively to seal the deal.
However, the experienced coach failed in his efforts to sign the ex-Upington City FC star.
WHAT MASEGELA SAID ABOUT MAKGALWA’S MOVE TO SIMBA

Makgalwa’s agent, Ntobatsi Masegela, has since revealed that Simba, coached by Steve Barker, showed serious intent from the first day.
“I think it’s always encouraging for us as a company when we see a player we represent being in the centre of such interest,” Masegela told FARPost.
“Coming to how the move unfolded, I think Simba were intentional from the first day, before Yanga could even come into the picture. So even when coach Manqoba arrived, he personally tried to bring Keletso on board, but I think Simba just did enough to get the deal over the line.
“And another thing is that Simba offered a deal that brought good long-term stability; obviously, I can’t say what I mean by that, but that’s what happened with Makgalwa’s move.”
