Betway Premiership side Chippa United have bolstered their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season, officially unveiling eight new signings.
The Chilli Boys confirmed the new acquisitions on Friday, 31 July 2026, as they prepare to build a side capable of competing at the highest level in the South African football elite league.
Headlining the new signings is former Lerumo Lions FC striker Ntuthuko Mlotshwa, who arrives in the Eastern Cape on the back of an impressive campaign in the Motsepe Foundation Championship [MFC], where he finished among the league’s top goalscorers with 16 goals. He previously featured for Magesi FC and Jomo Cosmos.
Chippa have also secured the services of striker Muzomuhle Khanyi on loan from Stellenbosch FC. Khanyi finished as the National First Division [NFD] top scorer during his spell with Hungry Lions in the 2024/25 season.
In the middle of the park, the club has bolstered its squad with a blend of local experience and international pedigree. South African defensive midfielder Muhammad Carrim brings valuable European experience following stints with Spanish outfit AD Alcorcón B and Belgian side Patro Eisden, alongside his former domestic spell with Black Leopards.
Joining him in the midfield engine room is Malian import Daba Diakité, a disciplined defensive midfielder who honed his skills at Djoliba AC before featuring for Moldovan giants FC Sheriff Tiraspol. Complementing the central additions is Lebohang Tshabalala, a hardworking midfielder brought in to provide tactical maturity, depth, and box-to-box dynamism.
CHIPPA UNITED REINFORCE DEFENCE
To tighten up at the back, Chippa have recruited a mix of disciplined central defenders and full-backs.
Shepang Makara is a composed centre-back who previously represented University of Pretoria and Amavarara FC.
Obakhe Tshaya, who plays right-back, returns to his home province following spells with Hope FC, Cape Town Spurs, and an impactful run in the ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs.
Imraan Jones: The pacey left-back makes his top-flight return after rising through Stellenbosch FC, Hout Bay FC, Mkhambathi FC, and Highbury FC.
