Well-travelled tactician Roger De Sa has made his return to Cape Town Spurs as the club’s new technical director following his international exploits at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Fresh off his spell on the global stage as part of Carlos Queiroz’s backroom staff with the Ghana national team in North America, the former Orlando Pirates and Ajax Cape Town mentor returns to Ikamva to lead the Urban Warriors’ charge back to professional football.
De Sa was initially unveiled by the SAFA Western Cape ABC Motsepe League side in July 2025 for the exact same role.
However, his tenure was temporarily put on hold when he received an offer to reunite with veteran coach Carlos Queiroz—first with Oman, and subsequently with the Ghana national team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
ROGER DE SA REFLECTS ON INTERNATIONAL STINT WITH OMAN
Speaking on how his swift move to Oman came about, De Sa admitted that the opportunity was hard to turn down.
“It all happened pretty quickly,” De Sa reflected. “When a country wants you, and they need you, and they want you to come and help, they find a way to get you there.”
The move to Oman and later Ghana marked the sixth national team setup that the duo of De Sa and Queiroz have worked in together, having previously shared the dugout with South Africa, Portugal, Egypt, Iran, and Qatar.
CAPE TOWN SPURS TARGETING PROFESSIONAL RETURN
Last season, the Ikamva-based side finished third in Stream A of the Western Cape ABC Motsepe League, accumulating 43 points from 24 matches.
With De Sa officially at the helm of the technical department, the club is aiming for a strong campaign to secure league honours, qualify for the SAFA ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs, and seal a return to the professional ranks.
Expressing his enthusiasm over the complete technical structure, CT Spurs CEO Alexi Efstathiou believes the club is now well-positioned to achieve its objectives.
“Every piece of the puzzle is now in place. Spurs are back, and we are here to stay,” said Efstathiou.
