Golden Arrows are set to bank a guaranteed US$600 000 [R10.2 million] from the sale of teenage midfielder Isaac Cisse to Belgian Pro League outfit Royal Charleroi SC, FARPost has established.
Cisse was recently unveiled by Charleroi after the Belgian club reached an agreement with Arrows for the transfer of the 19-year-old Ivorian, who enjoyed a breakthrough 2025/26 campaign.
The transfer agreement also includes performance-related incentives that could increase the value of the deal during Cisse’s contract in Belgium. Arrows will receive additional payments if Charleroi qualify for the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League or UEFA Conference League group stages, subject to the conditions of the agreement.
Individual bonuses are also linked to Cisse’s performances, with milestones including 10 goals or assists in a single season and 25 starts in official matches.
FARPost understands that some of these incentives could earn Arrows payments of up to R600 000. The KwaZulu-Natal club have further protected their interests by inserting a 5% sell-on clause into the agreement. This means Arrows could receive a percentage of any future transfer fee if Charleroi sell Cisse to another club.
CHARLEROI BEAT COMPETITION
Cisse’s performances attracted interest from several clubs after his impressive first season in senior football. Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and Egyptian giants Al Ahly were among those understood to have monitored his situation. Tanzanian giants Young Africans, now under head coach Manqoba Mngqithi, were also keen on the midfielder.
Charleroi stepped up their pursuit by sending scouts to South Africa to assess Cisse before improving their initial offer to meet Arrows’ valuation. The midfielder’s preference for a move to Europe also proved decisive, with sources close to the player indicating that he wanted to pursue an overseas opportunity should he leave Arrows.
Charleroi described the Ivory Coast Under-23 international as one of the most promising young players in his position.
“Powerful in duels, with a high work rate and excellent passing ability, he has a modern profile that allows him to bring balance and intensity to the midfield,” the Belgian club said.
“Although very young, he has already accumulated valuable experience at the highest South African level and under the colours of the Ivory Coast U-23 national team.”
The club added that Cisse fits its strategy of investing in young players with significant potential. Born in Abidjan, Cisse became one of Arrows’ standout performers under Mngqithi last season. He made 26 appearances across all competitions and scored five goals, playing a key role in the club’s midfield as Arrows finished sixth in the Betway Premiership.
