Sekhukhune United registered their second win of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership, while Milford FC beat Kruger United in a battle of newcomers on Saturday night.
Babina Noko, under the guidance of coach Cedric Kaze, produced a determined performance to beat Polokwane City FC 2-0 in a Betway Premiership match played at Seshego Stadium.
Kaze’s troops made a blistering start, and Tshepo Mokoena opened the scoring with a powerful right-footed shot. Givemore Khupe provided the assist.
They doubled their lead in the 28th minute through Ellis Rammala, who finished with precision from a D’Angelo Kazeem pass.
Polokwane City tried hard to get back into the game through Bulelani Nikani and Manuel Kambala, but they failed to find the target.
In the end, Sekhukhune collected their second set of maximum points from three Betway Premiership matches. As a result, Sekhukhune United rose to third place with six points from three games.
KZN DERBY ENDS IN A STALEMATE
At Chatsworth Stadium, Durban City FC and Richards Bay FC settled for a share of the spoils following a 1-1 draw. Richards Bay struck first through Nqaba Xulu after nine minutes of play with a powerful right-footed shot from just outside the box. The Natal Rich Boys held on, hoping for their first set of maximum points this season.
But Durban City FC got their equalising goal via an own goal by Thembela Sikhakhane in the 69th minute. Both teams are yet to win this season with two points from one draw and a defeat apiece. Richards Bay FC are 11th while Durban City are 12th on the table.
MILFORD FC WIN THE BATTLE OF BETWAY PREMIERSHIP NEWBIES
At the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium, Milford FC and Kruger United had a rather cagey first half, with both sides taking it slow in their forays, as they looked to catch each other on the break.
Milford FC were reduced to ten men as Menzi Chili was shown a red card after 42 minutes of play. The teams could not break each other at half-time.
But Kruger United used their numerical advantage in the second half and they broke the deadlock in the 51st minute via Khetukuthula Ndlovu. Motsie Matima provided the assist.
However, Milford FC turned on the screws and drew level in the 68th minute via a goal by Thabana Mabena, with Sifiso Mdluli cross as the provider.
They surged ahead in the 76th minute when Thabana Mabena seized on a loose ball and unleashed a spectacular long-range strike. The thunderous effort crashed against the underside of the crossbar and crossed the line.
Milford FC now sit in fourth position with six points from two matches while Kruger are 16th with one point.
