Former Mamelodi Sundowns forward Rodney Ramagalela has shared his views on what he believes has sparked Cassius Mailula’s stellar form following his return to Chloorkop.
The player affectionately known as ‘Cash Money’ returned to Bafana Ba Style for a second spell after stints abroad with Major League Soccer [MLS] outfit Toronto FC, Belgian side KV Kortrijk, and Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca.
Mailula has hit the ground running in the new campaign, hitting the back of the net three times in five appearances across all competitions in Masandawana’s colours.
The 25-year-old scored the winner in Sundowns’ 3-2 MTN8 quarter-final victory over Polokwane City FC. He followed that up with a crucial equaliser with his very first touch in the 1-1 Betway Premiership draw against Kaizer Chiefs, before also finding the target in a 2-0 league win over Marumo Gallants.
RODNEY RAMAGALELA ON CASSIUS MAILULA’S FORM

Speaking to FARPost, Ramagalela attributed Mailula’s immediate impact to being back in a comfortable, familiar environment.
“For me, I think he is happy there; that is his home. You know, when everybody is at home, they do the things that we all expect,” Ramagalela told FARPost.
“It’s not something new to see him scoring goals. I believe he is still going to score more goals. Sundowns is an environment where every player would be happy and able to deliver as expected, and Cassius Mailula is doing that.”
Following a 1-0 loss to Golden Arrows in their MTN8 semi-final first-leg encounter over the weekend, the Brazilians will look to bounce back when they return to domestic league action.
The Miguel Cardoso-led side will host AmaZulu FC in a Betway Premiership clash at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Wednesday, 26 August, with kick-off scheduled for 19:30.
