Coach Lehlohonolo Seema continues his search for a first win of the season after Siwelele FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Chippa United in their Betway Premiership clash at Toyota Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Bloemfontein outfit came into this clash desperate for maximum points to ignite their campaign, but a resolute Chilli Boys defence held firm for 90 minutes to ensure a point apiece. After four league outings, Siwelele have picked up just two points from a possible 12.
This slow start leaves them languishing in 14th place on the table, just a single point above bottom-placed Kruger United.
PRESSURE MOUNTING ON LEHLOHONOLO SEEMA
With two defeats and two draws in their opening four fixtures, Seema knows he needs to get the team firing soon rather than later.
Siwelele will need a quick turnaround in performances and results in their upcoming fixtures if they are to climb away from the bottom end of the table and relieve the pressure on the technical team.
OTHER BETWAY PREMIERSHIP RESULTS
Meanwhile, Durban City FC secured their first win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Betway Premiership newcomers Kruger United at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga.
Early goals from Jean Lwamba in the 7th minute and former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Gastón Sirino in the 50th were enough to hand the former Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef’s side all three points.
Elsewhere, TS Galaxy also registered their first win of the campaign, defeating Marumo Gallants 3-2 at Royal Bafokeng Stadium in the North West.
A brace from Victor Letsoalo and a goal from Sedwyn George sealed the victory for Bernard Parker’s men, while Msindisi Ndlovu and Onke Moletshe scored for Bahlabane Ba Ntwa.
