Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs legend Reneilwe Letsholonyane has revealed the reason behind his decision to partner with Thabo Senong at FC Platinum in Zimbabwe.
Letsholonyane was head coach at Matebele FC in Botswana last season, where he helped the youthful side retain their Botswana Premier League status.
After earning a Coach of the Season nomination in the Botswana Premier League, ‘Yeye’ emerged as a target for several clubs in Botswana. But he has since moved to FC Platinum in the Zimbabwe Premier League, where he is now serving as Senong’s assistant coach.
Yeye and Senong joined FC Platinum last month, but it took them over three weeks to officially start their duties as their work permits took time to be approved.
The 44-year-old says coaching in Zimbabwe is a big step in his journey of gaining international experience. Letsholonyane is yet to take up a head coaching role in the Betway Premiership. The CAF A license holder previously coached the reserve side of AmaZulu FC in the DDC.

In explaining his move to Zimbabwe, Yeye said: “As a young, growing and aspiring coach, I was coaching in my country before and last season I was in Botswana. It has always been my interest to get experience.
“Zimbabwe and FC Platinum presented an opportunity, together with my head coach [Senong], to come in. As part of my journey to get international experience, I saw it fit to come and grow my career as a coach.
“For sure, I think we are in the right direction. There are always generations that take over, and we are on the right track. It’s just a matter of time.
“It gives us the opportunity to keep empowering ourselves, to keep learning and keep getting better. We cannot compare ourselves with Europe. They have their own timing. With us, we are getting there slowly but surely.”
